About the Ironman World Championship

The Ironman World Championship beckons some of the world’s best endurance athletes year after year. This prestigious competition combines the most grueling endurance sports: running, swimming, and cycling. In the late 1970s, the Ironman competition began in Waikiki with 15 competitors. The initial goal was to determine who, among the swimmers, the runners, and the bikers, was the toughest. Ever since its inception, the competition has grown to host global events and athletes from nearly every corner of the world.

RPM²: The Every Day Insert

Did you know that RPM² makes a footbed for daily use? The RPM² Every Day Insert is designed to help cushion the pressure of daily rpm2 footbed app dashworkouts—from running and speed training to cycling—by providing a seamless and comfortable transition between use of our RPM² devices. Made from the same materials as our remote performance monitoring footbeds, this daily insert gives our valued customers the same  feel and comfort as our RPM² Cycling, Running, and Triathlete devices.

Why Use the Every Day Insert

We use only the highest quality materials when making our footbeds. These medical-grade materials are not only long lasting but comfortable. On days where our Running, Cycling, or Triathlete systems are not used, the Every Day Insert is perfect for enhancing the comfort of any athletic shoe. Like our performance monitoring devices, these inserts are thin and suitable for daily use. The major difference, of course, is the fact that the daily inserts do not have our ultra-sensitive sensors used for collecting data.

Using the Every Day Insert is beneficial because it allows our customers to enjoy familiarity and uniformity so that when it comes to using our devices to measure bilateral equivalence and gait analysis, there is no difference in the feel, function, and comfort of footwear.

We have an entire web page and blog series dedicated to testimonials and reviews of our products. If you are curious about the value of our devices and what industry leaders and coaches have to say, we invite you to read through what has been said about RPM² footbeds.

RPM² Device Usage and FAQS, Part 2

rpm2 footbed app dashTo help our clients get the most out of our products, we are posting a series of blog posts dedicated to device usage tips and frequently asked questions. At RPM², we strive to deliver technologically advanced products without sacrificing a user-friendly interface. Our last blog of this series focused on registering one’s devices with our website. Today, we will discuss how to connect RPM² footbeds to mobile devices after registration. Our footbeds are compatible with iOS (Apple) and Android operating systems. In the next few months, our products will also be compatible with .Fit and ANT+.

Connecting Your Insoles to the iOS Device

After registering your insoles online, open the settings on your iOS phone or tablet. Enable Bluetooth and give your mobile device a few seconds to search for your RPM² insoles. Once the insoles appear, pair with them one at a time. After you have paired your devices, you can click the home button to leave the settings application. Then you will open the official RPM² app on your phone or tablet. Once our app is open, you will be prompted to enter your registration code (which was given at the time you registered “My Devices” on our website). Be sure to enter the code exactly as it appears, as our app is case sensitive. You will know that your insoles are connected to our iOS app when the feet in the upper right corner appear green. Watch the YouTube video below for step-by-step instructions.

Connecting Your Insoles to Your Android Device

Open your setting application on your Android device. Under wireless and networks, enable Bluetooth. If your insoles are registered, charged and within in range, they will appear as devices you can pair with via Bluetooth connectivity.  Wait until both insoles appear in Bluetooth and then pair with each device one at a time. Once you have completed this step, close the settings application and open the official RPM² app for Android. When your RPM² app is open, you will be asked to enter your registration code. This code was given to you when you registered your devices online. Be sure to enter your code exactly as it was given to you, including capital letters. If your code is correctly entered, you will receive confirmation and your insoles will be connected to your mobile app. For detailed instructions, watch our complete tutorial below.

RPM² and MJP, Inc. Work with the Brazilian Paralympics Team

If you follow our blog or social media, you have probably noticed that our team at RPM² has been educating athletes MJP and RPM2 picfrom around the world by providing demonstrations of our products. Just recently, RPM² and our corporate partner, Michael Johnson Performance (MJP), Inc. worked with the Brazilian Paralympics team. We were honored to team up with such high-caliber athletes to see how our products could help the team’s coaches and trainers track performance.

What MJP, Inc. Coaches Had to Say about RPM² and the Paralympics Team

Performance specialist at MJP, Inc., Lindsey Andersen worked closely with the Paralympics team. In our interview with her, she stated that RPM² devices were used to track the performance of athletes in range of motion tests to determine readiness for training. RPM² is also used to monitor performance at the end of a training session so that coaches can check for bilateral equivalence issues, hip flexion, and extension. Using this data at the end of a workout essentially works as a self-checking mechanism for trainers to see if adjustments in warm-ups and workouts need to be made.

Lindsey Anderson went on to explain the importance of being able to measure hip flexion when it comes to running. Since hip flexion is a factor in all phases of running—from the acceleration phase to drive phase— determining the flexibility of the pelvic muscles and openness of the joints is vital to ensuring a productive and safe workout. Lindsey Anderson believes using RPM² footbeds to measure hip flexion is paramount to improving performance because sprinters are notorious for having limited range of motion, specifically on hip flexors and quadriceps. She goes on to say that, pinpointing areas of improvement with data prior to training can lead to developing more efficient and effective performance during workouts.

We have embedded the full video below so that you can see these dedicated athletes in action.

RPM² Featured on Triathlete.com

rpm2 footbed app dashOn July 6th, our footbeds were evaluated by writer, Evan Rudd of Triathlete.com. In his spotlight on our products, Rudd discussed our many helpful features including RPM² Cycling’s and RPM² Triathlete’s built-in power meters along with our insole’s ability to measure weight distribution, step time, and cadence help determine an athlete’s level of bilateral equivalence.

What Triathlete.com Has to Say about RPM²

In his write up, Rudd states, “When used in cycling mode, the insoles provide power data for each leg and can even identify if your foot is pronating or supinating through your pedal stroke. There are several advantages to an insole-based power system (over a hub- or crank-based power meter), such as the ability to easily swap the inserts between shoes.” Like many other fitness writers, coaches, and trainers, Rudd acknowledges the benefits of an affordable power meter for triathletes and cyclists that is portable and easy to use.

Regarding our products’ data on performance, Rudd wrote “RPM² also has run functionality, which measures ground contact time, flight time, cadence and sequential force strike, which shows where you land on your foot as well as how much you pronate. The insoles measure bilateral range of motion to analyze ankle dorsiflexion, knee extension and hip flexion and extension.”

RPM² Anticipates Tech Needs of Triathletes

After evaluating our footbeds, the author pointed out a feature that he would ultimately like to see: ANT+ connectivity in addition to our user-friendly mobile app. Fortuitously enough, our tech team has been in the process of including ANT+and .Fit compatibility with our footbeds for a few months now. ANT+ and .Fit compatibility should be available within a month or two and will be free to download for existing customers as well as new customers.

Our team would also like to note that our products prices have been reduced substantially. In fact, we have slashed the prices of all footbed systems by $100 because we were able to reduce our manufacturing costs.

We are happy to announce that RPM² is more affordable than ever and our team is always striving meet the needs of our technologically savvy clients.
